My Little Bicycle *~*

My lovely daughter knew I longed for a bike, but there was not much chance of me affording one

A few weeks ago she rang me up and told me she had been on eBay and bought me something...
so you can imagine my surprise when she wheeled this little beauty out of her garage..

I have repainted it a bit with metal paint ..strapped on a basket I found in the C shop with an old leather belt...
So today was the first day I went for a ride around the reservoir...I loved it

So in the afternoon feeling a little saddle sore I sat in the garden and read my new book...

It's so beautifully written, it's about the lonely existence of a light house keeper and his new wife and then the childless couple find a baby washed up in a boat....the start of so much love and heartache

Then I picked this perfect rose ...

to make some crystallised rose petals for cake decorating...

This is the first time I have attempted these ...

There, once they have dried I shall store them away for a baking day!

Thea xx

  1. Enjoy your bicycle- mine was a gift from my daughter at Christmas, with a basket too! It is giving me such joy to pedal round the village

But please please get a helmet - I know it's not as glamorous, but having seen the damage to her partner's helmet when he was knocked off his bike 2 weeks ago - and realising that his head would have been smashed without the helmet, I am even more passionate about wearing one.

Beautiful rose petals, I have never tried crystallising them either, but it looks simple and will make your cakes look very attractive.

I've never tried crystallising rose petals because I tend not to do much cake decorating anyway but I hope you will show us what you do with yours!
