Baking a little Christmas Cake *~*

It was a wet cold day yesterday..so I decided to make our Christmas cake...
only a little one, I have readjusted my recipe to fit a 6 inch tin

I had soaked the fruit in brandy and juice from the lemon and orange the night before...

Covered the bowl with a shower cap (I find these very useful, so when ever I stay in a hotel I always bring them home)

View from the french doors in the kitchen ..steady rain and dull skies
I put some pretty music on while I baked...
The light starts to fade, so while the cake cooked gently in the oven I decided to rearrange the dresser..
 Lit the candles...

The house is filled with a wonderful aroma from the cake...

It turned out beautifully...so pleased  xx

  1. Hi Thea, your kitchen looks beautiful so cosy and welcoming on such a dark day. The cake looks lovely I can smell it as I look at the photo, I used to love to help mum and grandma make the xmas cake and I used to make my own but I'm not going to bother this year I seem to be the only one who eats it and its not good for my diet. Hope you are well my friend, love Jill xx

  5. I love your kitchen cupboard, Thea. Every time I see it I want to play there awhile. I spend far too much time in my own. :) Your cake looks delicious and aren't you smart to get a head start. Love your sweet polka dot table-cloth. Deb

  8. It looks lovely Thea. Tony made ours a couple of weeks ago and boy does it smell good. He has fed it half a bottle of sherry up to now and as we are virtually tea total goodness knows what it will taste like by Christmas! Your house looks lovely and cosy, the perfect place to be when its cold and wet outside.XX

  15. Your home always looks so beautiful! I've baked our Christmas cake too - less than 7 weeks to Christmas! :) I use shower caps from hotels to place over bowls of bread dough - very handy. Best wishes, Pj x

  16. Mmmmmm ... love Christmas cake. I do have a good recipe (my mother's) and I look at your beautiful cake and am thinking to myself "what are you waiting for ... make a cake!". I'm just a little hesitant because I've never made one before. My mother always baked up enough to share around the entire family! Thanks for sharing this little afternoon ... a dark rainy day does call for some heart warming in the home. Wendy x

  17. I can smell your lovely cake - I really can! Very clever idea with the shower caps - if ever I stay in a hotel again I will pinch them all for that very purpose!
    Keep warm and dry
