A Day to remember at Barnsdale Gardens *~*

I have been a  keen gardener all my life..even when I was tiny I used to tend a small patch in my parents garden..(mainly planted with shells, feathers and pinwheels)

So the garden has always been a very important part of the homes I have lived in...
I learnt from my Mum and Aunties the names of plants, how to split and propagate, and to know their different needs...
I collected books when I could ....and this one was my favourite (1990's)

I really connected with Geoff and along with his BBC Gardeners World program I would say I learnt my "trade"....

His style was natural, soft and so me...

So I was so excited when Fin and I visited his garden at Barnsdale on Tuesday...

We arrived quite early so we had the place to ourselves for a while...

 So beautiful...
Each of his small TV gardens are still there, with the addition of a few more.. 39 in all.. I was like a child in a sweet shop!

most of them have a cottage garden feel...

Many of them still look just like they did in his book...

 So inspirational....

A woodland hut leading to the woodland garden..I could hear the the fairies whispering

Bees in centre stage..

I love this gazebo...all forgotten and dappled

I can remember Geoff making these obelisks on one his programmes

Climbing Rose "Compassion"

This Town Paradise Garden was stunning...we sat on the seat in the sunlight watching the frogs in the pond below..

We really loved our day at Barnsdale and will definitely be back...

Geoff Hamilton died suddenly in 1996 but he left such a wonderful legacy for all to enjoy

Thank you for all your sweet wishes for Fin.. he was chuffed to bits...Thea xx

So very very Proud.....

I have mentioned before that Fin took some very important exams to do with his job..
well on Monday we went to his Graduation ceremony...

I was busting with so much pride..he spent quite a few weeks away on his course and worked so very hard. and as I said before it is not quite so easy when (one is of a certain age)  bless!

The University laid on a lovely drinks and canapes reception afterwards,  Fin and I really enjoyed the day
Afterwards we traveled on to Rutland and stayed at this very pretty Country Hotel...

 Wild flowers in the grounds....
A very pretty room was waiting for us...

I had bought the Champagne and strawberries with us.....

So there was only one thing to do.... I raised my glass to my very clever man!!

We spent the next day visiting a very special garden, but I shall talk about that another day.
.
.now I am going to sit down with a cuppa! and catch up on all your wonderful blogs...Thea xx

Midsummer Magic...*~*

Fin and I enjoyed Midsummer's Eve in our garden...

Among the flowers ....

Fruit...

         Bees....

 fairies...

Daisy chains...

Then as the light faded we lit candles in the garden room...and enjoyed the magic

 Midsummer happiness shone....Thea x
