Advent Angels and Christmas Puds *~*

I have been a little under the weather (a "crummy" virus ) so have just been doing gentle things ....
I made the Christmas Puddings last weekend ( I know I should have waited for stir up Sunday, but I am going to be a bit busy then)
I make one every year, and this year my Daughter put her order in for one!
So the double steamers were called for....

and they gently hissed away until the puds were done...they turned out well,
They are now sitting in the pantry ready for Christmas.
I also made two Stollen breads..
We shared one with friends and the other I put the other in the freezer ready for winter celebrations...
Then I decided to do a bit of sewing....
I have made my little granddaughters an Advent angel each...
Pockets full of treats...
I just adapted a Tilda pattern by enlarging it and adding my own ideas..

For this one I chose more traditional colours...

Added lots of bells and bows...

A special little chocolate peeping out...
I know Mummy and Daddy will help them out with the chocolates too!!....so I shall wrap them up and make sure they are ready for the 1st December

Now I just want to say.. thank you very much to Maria ( Rosy tinted spectacles) ...she sent me a beautiful parcel full of pretty treasures..

She is so very kind..thank you so much my twinkly friend Thea xx

Baking a little Christmas Cake *~*

It was a wet cold day yesterday..so I decided to make our Christmas cake...
only a little one, I have readjusted my recipe to fit a 6 inch tin

I had soaked the fruit in brandy and juice from the lemon and orange the night before...

Covered the bowl with a shower cap (I find these very useful, so when ever I stay in a hotel I always bring them home)

View from the french doors in the kitchen ..steady rain and dull skies
I put some pretty music on while I baked...
The light starts to fade, so while the cake cooked gently in the oven I decided to rearrange the dresser..
 Lit the candles...

The house is filled with a wonderful aroma from the cake...

It turned out beautifully...so pleased  xx
